My high school geometry students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom daily. Some of my students are repeating geometry for a second time; since a passing grade is a requirement for graduation. My goal is to help students overcome the many challenges they face with learning mathematics. The at-risk students I teach want to do well in school and be successful, but the myriad challenges they are presented with make that difficult sometimes. They need your help with the new challenge they will face having a "masked" teacher.
My Project
We are living in unusual times, right now, so classroom instruction is going to be different. This pendant microphone will allow my voice to be amplified through a Blue-tooth enabled speaker. As students and teachers return to schools, wearing masks may become the new normal. Ensuring every student receives proper volume and clarity during instruction will be difficult wearing a mask. The typical background noise in a classroom is already a challenge and teaching with a mask on will only compound the problem. This microphone is essential to student learning moving forward with our new normal. As an added benefit, this device can still be used in the regular classroom, once the pandemic is over. The Ron Clark Academy has been using the pendant microphone in their classrooms for many years. I am personally paying for $170 of the total cost and another local business (Valdosta Insurance Services) has contributed $500! Please help me finish funding this awesome new technology tool for my classroom.
