This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a Title I school and are from diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds, namely Bangladeshi, Chinese, Hispanic, and French. 95% of them are Latino and African America. The rest are sparsely mixed with other ethnicities. In my classroom, there are students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities.
My students are an active, inquisitive bunch who like to explore and create some of the most intricate designs from scratch and showcase their creations.
After completing an assigned task, my students have the opportunity to go to the stem center and pick a preferred activity to complete. My aim is to instill in them a lifelong love of learning and this is where STEM comes in. The greatest gift we can give students during the elementary years is a driving curiosity, a belief in their abilities, a thirst for knowledge, and a passion to grow. Without these skills, they will be unprepared for the real world. It is my desire to start the preparation process right here in kindergarten with STEM!
My Project
My students will use the House Building Engineering Center, Blocks & Blueprints Learning Center and the Large Building Plates Set in their STEM center. For my early finishers as well as my students who are more hands-on learners could benefit greatly . These innovations will afford them endless possibilities to sculpt, build, and shape whatever their imaginations allow. It will also help to promote fine motor skills (finger strengthening, dexterity, in hand manipulation etc).
By donating to our project, you will not only help to increase student engagement but you will ultimately help to increase their critical thinking and problem solving skills.
