My Project
Our students are taking on the exciting challenge of performing serious concert band literature this year, but we’re missing a key piece of the puzzle — concert chimes. Without them, our percussionists are forced to improvise by clapping parts or using a piano or synthesizer as a substitute. Chimes add vibrant color, dramatic accents, and subtle nuance to music, and having access to them will allow our students to experience authentic orchestration just as the composer intended.
Adding chimes to our ensembles will expand our students’ musical vocabulary and sharpen their skills in dynamic contrast, orchestration, and ensemble precision.
With over 20 dedicated percussionists eager to play, this instrument will help them develop essential percussion techniques and unlock a wider variety of repertoire. The presence of chimes will enhance our ensemble’s overall sound, boost students’ confidence in live performance settings, and provide a deeper, more enriching music education.
Our students are a passionate and diverse group of young musicians who bring their unique energy and creativity to the band room each day. They’ve shown incredible resilience by adapting when key instruments are unavailable, finding clever ways to bring music to life. Their determination deserves to be matched with the right tools to help them grow.
