This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 6th-grade students in Salt Lake City. I enjoy teaching this age because they are on the cusp of leaving childhood and are starting to realize that the world is much bigger than what they've experienced.

With everything that has happened in the last couple of years, my students have shown that they still have a desire to learn.

I want to make sure I support this desire to the best of my ability.

My Project

Covid has made some of our supplies more valuable than others. We have found that we are in desperate need of some of the most basic of teaching supplies. Our classroom is in need of individual whiteboards, dry erase markers, and timers. The whiteboards and markers will allow students to show their work not only in the classroom but also over Zoom when at-home learning is necessary. As for the timers, we have some social and emotional needs in our classroom that require breaks. Having a timer will allow the student and teacher to structure the break time so learning or more emotional support can take place.
