Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help me provide high interest and age appropriate tools to promote the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of my students.
During the winter months, students spend more time indoors.
They are negatively impacted by less daylight hours, cold and inclement weather, upticks in contagious viruses and respiratory illness and other factors that lead to noticeable increases in sadness, depression, absenteeism and a general lack of motivation.
Students have limited time outdoors and struggle to find refreshing indoor recess activities that help them to “be kids”. Legos allow students to use their imagination, escape their daily anxieties for just a few minutes and be creative. They have the opportunity to make application of STEM and literacy concepts, taught in class, by creating characters and building Lego worlds.
In addition, my students simply love Legos and almost all of them don’t have financial access to them.
