My students need to become familiar with the concept of coding. What better way to engage the students then using Legos...something everyone has played with! I recently went to STEM institute training and loved the Legos!

My Students
Our students come from diverse backgrounds. We currently have a number of students that are new to the country and speak limited English, if any. The students are eager to learn and experience things. We are currently starting to promote Computer Science for All and are in need of supplies. The students are excited to begin this adventure. Although our students come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, most are eager to learn and try new things. They enjoy thinking out of the box and being challenged.
My Project
Computer science is a necessity for the up and coming students. They need to learn how to code and what better way to engage them! Everyone has played with Legos which will give students a building block and a level of comfortability! Using these robots will encourage them to take chances, be creative, and problem solve. Critical thinking and collaboration are the key to success. My students will be able to work together to create a robot, code the robot to complete certain tasks, and debug their codes when necessary. The projects will encourage discussion and critical thinking. I can't wait to see what the kids will create!
