My Students
My students have been participating in Chess Club since the last school year. It's time to take their playing to the next level.
Our students attend a Title 1 school in an impoverished neighborhood in NY.
Last year we launched Project Chess at our school to great success. Our students loved participating in chess club. Their ability to concentrate increased as well as their logical- reasoning skills.
My Project
Our chess club is ready to start playing in the highly competitive tournaments across the five boroughs and we need to be prepared. The books that I've requested are classics of chess literature aimed at beginning players. In particular, I would love provide each student with their own copy of Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess. This book is highly interactive, asking students to draw a solution on each chess diagram on each page.
These books will increase my students strategic and and tactical chess abilities and make them stronger tournament players.
More importantly, these books will inspire them and create a life-long love of chess.
