it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I never imagined that Friday, March 13th, would be the last day I would ever see my students for their first year of schooling. It broke my heart as I said our final "good-bye". Some replied, "See you tomorrow teacher" (in their little preschool voice). As I tried to gather my thoughts and search for materials that they would need for the next two weeks, or so I thought we were coming back to normalcy after that. It became apparent that not all of my students had the necessary tools and materials to access what I was going to prepare for them.
I knew that I would need to gather materials as quickly as possible so they would at least have something to scribble with, create a collage, or keep learning at home.
We are currently communicating through Class Dojo and holding Zoom meetings twice a week. I am doing Read Alouds with a couple of their favorite books that I was able to grab from my classroom, we sing songs that we would normally sing during Circle Time, and talk about whatever comes to their little minds.
My Project
All of these materials are things that I have readily available for each student in my classroom. I know that my students miss their materials and classroom. They would love to visit the Art Area center and they'd go crazy letting their imagination run free. They would create these beautiful collages and seeing them learn to cut paper and using their fine motor skills made me extremely proud of them.
Having the necessary materials to expand their artistic talent will be allow me to showcase their creativity.
It will help them with their penmanship. These resources will also allow parents to help them with getting creative at home and making some fun memories as well.
