My Project
I am seeking funding to provide an iPad for my classroom of elementary students in order to use with a live translation service: Microsoft Translator.
This iPad would allow the teacher, or other speaker in the class to communicate with any other learner in the room, through their Chromebook, in their native language.
Since MS Translator conversations need to be initiated through a mobile device, an iPad is necessary to take advantage of the live audio interpretation (as well as visual transcription) offered through this application. Students are also able to respond in their home language (through speech or text) and allow others to read/listen in a language they prefer. This allows the voices of all learners in our classroom to equally participate in the learning.
Having an iPad would allow students from multi-language households equal access to the conversations in our classroom creating a more inclusive environment and creating classroom conversations filled with diverse perspectives.
