Lessons Worth Untangling Headphones For

My Project

We are a large, urban, Title I public school. Most of our classroom members are starting Kindergarten with no pre-school or other school experience.

Our school is comprised of students from over forty different countries and features gender-specific classrooms to maximize gender-based learning and teaching strategies.

We are fortunate enough to be able to provide a working iPad to each of our Kindergarten students. The headphones we had been using featured L-shaped jacks, which we were informed in the middle of the school year that we could no longer use because they break off too easily (and did) in the iPads. We spent the last part of the school year using iPads with no headphones, which created a very noisy, distracting, and overstimulating class environment despite requests that they be kept on silent while others worked.

We have some amazing websites we use for lessons and many websites that read aloud to students when they haven't yet learned to read the words themselves. Our students need to be able to hear those lessons and stories on their iPads and not be distracted by neighbors' iPad noise. Help us get new headphones with straight jacks to our students so they can listen and learn from online lessons. Thank you for your support of this effort!!
