This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students would benefit from sharing and practicing with additional reading materials at home.
My students are learning English as a second language and enjoy sharing their accomplishments with their families.
They attend public school in Pennsylvania and speak Spanish or Chinese. The lending library books will help them to practice and acquire new vocabulary.
My Project
The lending library books contain current events. The students enjoy reading material that is appropriate to their individual reading levels and offers picture support. We have many students who also will enjoy using the materials to read with a reading buddy. We are requesting issues of Scholastic News magazine. The magazine is published monthly and includes current events. Students will be able to borrow the magazines (for grade levels 1, 2, and 3 to accommodate a variety of reading levels) to reread and practice the stories at home.
Receiving this generous donation would set an example for students about the importance of community service and helping others.
Thank you for considering helping students gain reading resources that can be shared in their homes.
