My Students
At the heart of every good story is an understanding of what makes it work. LEGO Education materials allow students to develop strong language and literacy skills by using a hands-on minds-on approach that motivates and engages them in writing, reading and storytelling.
By using LEGO bricks, students can create scenes that become the foundation for writing, sharing and listening.
Language arts lessons are transformed into playful learning experiences that build students writing and storytelling skills.
I work with students with special needs in grades kindergarten through fourth grade in the upstate of South Carolina.
My students vary in their individual needs, but all have the same desire to succeed and achieve to their fullest potential; they are bright, eager to learn, and hard-working. They are reading below grade level, and struggle with many other basic skills but they also have great determination and perseverance in reaching their goals.
My Project
The Lego Education Story Starter curriculum packs will give me a complete selection of tools, elements and lessons that meet Common Core Standards for English Language Arts for the grades I teach, K5 through fourth grade.
The Story Starter core curriculum focuses on building story structure, creating narratives, and enhancing writing abilities, communication, and collaboration skills.
The Story Starter Curriculum Pack & Software that is available features activities all correlated to language and literacy standards along with learning grids, rubric samples, lesson plans, and more.
With these materials, I can can encourage my students to be engaged and confident writers and storytellers – enabling them to succeed in language development and literacy!
