My Project

I have a very diverse group of students from different economic backgrounds, speaking different languages and of varying academic levels. This is their first year taking a STEM elective. I've been working hard to find a way to find fun, but educational activities that will spark their interest and be inclusive to all kids in the room. Recently, they noticed a few old LEGO Education kits in my closet that I had used when I coached robotics, and asked if they could build them.

I watched all the students interest immediately blossom as soon as those kits opened, they began collaborating and broke themselves into groups and worked the entire period without taking a break.

It is the first activity that I've seen students work so well together and I'm hoping to foster and build off of that enthusiasm with new kits.
