it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher working in a first grade ICT classroom. As a teacher in a low-income district, my students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite all of these challenges, my students walk into school each morning eager and ready to learn. I'm looking to provide my students with meaningful and authentic learning experiences so that they are able to grow in all aspects of their lives.
My students are funny, creative, and love to move!
They thrive from being able to create and explore with hands-on materials. They want learn first grade "things" and are motivated to succeed just as much as I want them to!
In an ICT setting, we push for our students to thrive both academically and socially. We place a strong emphasis on building social skills, using kind words, having a caring heart, and working as a team! We are full of acceptance and learning to incorporate and appreciate each other's differences.
My Project
My classroom is an integrated co-teaching model where students with disabilities learn alongside their typically developing peers. There is a strong emphasis on building both academic and social skills in the classroom. Although we may be full of diversity, all of my students learn best from a hands-on discovery model!
These STEM lego sets will not only provide fine motor support, but also allow my students to experiment and problem solve, both academically and socially.
The donations for this project will allow for our students to engage in activities that are meaningful and fun! It will provide a positive stimulation and meet their diverse learning needs.
I can envision my students exploring, creating, and participating in STEM activities while having fun. I can almost hear the sounds of my students working together to create something special! The possibilities are endless!
