My Students
We have a diverse group of students in South Asheville, NC. We have different races, religions, languages, socio-economic statuses, and learning levels. We teach students from grades Kindergarten to 4th grade.
Ours is a large school that has 7 classes of K-2 students each, 8 classes of 3rd grade students, and 6 classes of 4th grade students.
I love when they ask questions about why, when, or how something happens. Inquisitiveness is a characteristic in students we need to feed.
My Project
We have started a STEM class in our school for all students but they only get to go for 5 days every 7 weeks because we have so many classes and only one teacher.
In the library I am redoing a corner area to to be a Makerspace with meeting tables, chairs, crafts, and games for students to use, design, and create with.
This is a project I'm just getting started with so this will be my first step in that direction.
Being able to problem solve everyday issues is something all students need to be able to learn to be active in the 21st century and Legos are the easiest to work with.
