My Students
I teach first grade in a small farming town in Illinois. We have such a diverse student population. On one side of town, we have students who come from half-million-dollar homes and on the other side of town, students who come from public-housing situations. 30% of our student population receives free and reduced lunch and school fees. My goal for all my students is to give each and every one of them the same opportunity to learn with every advantage possible.
If I can accomplish one thing in the short time I have my students it would be that they know that I truly love and value them as individuals.
My Project
Problem solving, team work, communication OH MY! STEM activities are a WONDERFUL way to engage students while working on a whole host of concepts.
After attending an inspiring professional development conference, I want to add lots of Legos and accessories to challenge my students to work together to complete a task--tasks like building a Lego maze to challenge others to make a marble travel through, designing Lego glasses that describe your personality, making a Lego boat and seeing whose boat can hold the most weight without sinking.
With your help my students will have fun building, creating, and working together.
