My Students
Our school is in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. It is a brand new school with a load of potential. The school includes students from pre-k to kindergarten, and it is a melting pot of children from all around the world.
Our school is in a high poverty area, and about ninety-five percent of the students in the school receive free lunch.
There are fifteen, energetic, three and four-year-old children in my class but there are not a lot of funds to enrich these students' education because of the budget cuts. Although our families give us support, they can't always help out financially.
My Project
In my school we are rethinking STEM learning and sparking joy in the classroom with the LEGOs, They are an intuitive, inclusive, and highly adaptable hands-on learning system. They future-proof students’ skills, and make them confident life-long learners by giving them unlimited possibilities for hands-on, playful STEM learning.
The LEGO sets I am requesting will help me implement this program in my classroom.
LEGO ignites students’ passion for STEM learning through playful problem solving and storytelling, preparing them to be resilient, independent thinkers. And the pretend medical cart will help me do that in our Dramatic Play center. The boys and girls in my class will use it to pretend they are doctors.
