Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from the southwest side of Chicago and are part of the blended preschool program here. This program gives my students an opportunity to interact with many diverse learners. My kind preschoolers come to class every day to learn, discover, and explore.
They gleefully draw pictures, create structures, read books, dance, and sing throughout the remote learning day and in person day.
My students love identifying letters and their sounds, colors, shapes, and feelings (SEL). My school district in now in a hybrid model and I have students in the classroom and online!
My Project
On January 11th, my school district went hybrid. Which means I have students in the classroom and students in person. I want to create exciting new ways for my students to learn letters, letter sounds, creating 2 or 3 letter words. The alphabet letter Legos will allow my students to create words using letters, not only are my students using motor skills to make these awesome words but in the process of making them I will ask them about the letters they are using so they can become familiar with the alphabet. They can create their name with the letters and play around with the letters in their name. This is helpful because it will prepare my students for kindergarten. The activities we play using the lego letters will engage my preschoolers because they will be able to touch and feel the letters and move them around. My students love legos and this letter legos will bring so many smiles in my classroom! This activity will help them with not only recognizing the letter but the letter sound and create words.
