My students need a better, more modern way, to learn about the human body through the use of a disarticulated human skeleton.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Rook's classroom raised $574

My Students
My students, in this low-income/high poverty inner city school district, live in an area where drugs, gangs, and unemployment run rampant. My classroom is full of a large group of diverse students, with varying interests. My classes are a group of amazing students that come from a variety of cultural backgrounds and receive free lunch.
My students are imaginative, adept, and curious.
This is because they are looking for simple joy in their lives. Finding activities they are excited about can be a challenge. However, I find that they are willing to try anything. My goal is to captivate them with fun and positive activities that can be remembered and used for their rest of their lives.
My Project
This project came about due to requests by my students! The days of lecturing and filling in notes are going the way of the dinosaur. Yes, there are times that process needs to occur, but all of my students prefer to participate in hands-on activities. The use of this disarticulated skeleton will allow my large classes to have that hands-on experience. The best part is that we can work in smaller groups or as individuals - however the student learns best. The use of the coloring book will also be an active learning tool.
Several of our students wish to pursue a career in the medical field.
The use of this skeleton will allow them to learn the bones during class, but also come back to study on their own. This skeleton will be used in the 9th and 10th grade Health classes as well as our Biology and Anatomy and Physiology classes.
