This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need more hands on with science topics. They have done a lot of studying with books this year. Now, they need these science topics to finally come alive around them.
My 4th grade students are very motivated learners.
They love their school and take pride in their classwork. Our school's mission is to provide students with a well-rounded elementary school education, through a challenging program, that is focused on mathematics and science. We use innovative, reform-based instructional methods in a stimulating and nurturing environment that fosters maximum student achievement.
My Project
My students need slides for our microscope, a rocks & minerals kit, a butterfly habitat and owl pellet kit for our classroom lab. I would love my students to use before schools is over new slides for our microscope so that my students can learn how to investigate physical properties of various microscopic organisms. With the rocks and minerals kit, students can compare and contrast various types of rocks and minerals and feel excited about geology. With the butterfly pavilion, students will have a close up view of the butterfly life cycle, step by step. With the owl pellet kit students will investigate the owl's food chain and learn about the different kinds of prey that the owl consumes.
I have been teaching for over 16 years and I have seen that with these kinds of resources my students enjoy these hands on experiences.
I want to bring the outdoors into the classroom after the state testing. My students need more hands on with science topics. They have done a lot of studying with books this year. Now, they need these science topics to finally come alive around them.
