Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are so diverse and interesting that to describe them is really hard. Students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in Washington. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, etc. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics.

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.

I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.

My Project

My students love to read a lot. My Spanish class is no exception. These students, native and non-native Spanish speakers, have grown so much as readers and writers in the language. In our classroom we have books in Spanish, but they want more and most importantly they want challenging books for them to keep developing as Spanish readers.

More books in Spanish will help my students continue growing and being able to challenge themselves as readers.

Most of my students get so involved in their readings, that once they start it is hard for me to make them stop and do other class work. I don't want this love for reading to stop.
