My Project
These supplies go along with a project I have created for The Book Thief. In Part 8 we witness an incredible act of kindness and transformation during a very difficult time. Rudy and Liesel go out on another adventure, however, instead of stealing something from the people of Molching, Rudy has decided at great personal risk, to give something back. I really like the idea of leaving something to be discovered by someone who might feel under appreciated. This project gives my kids a chance to do that as well.
The kids use these supplies to create painted rocks to leave behind for those who have inspired and supported the.
They design a them for the rocks and select a quote that they feel relates particularly well to an individual who has been there for them and has supported them through school.
The coolest thing about this assignment is seeing how invested my kids become during it. They all have adults who have made a difference in their lives. They take a lot of pride in making sure their rock is just right. This project, however small, give my kids a chance to give back to those who have given to them.
