My students need some basic art supplies, such as paint, markers and a pencil sharpener, to help us with our projects for the last few months of school.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Ammons's classroom raised $257

My Students
400 students have been using the same art supplies for 7 months of school. We stay busy and work hard, so our markers are drying out, our pencils are becoming stubs, and our paint is all used up! The good news is we are making lots of art. The sad news is that we have 3 months left and need help!
Our students are Pre-K through 7th grade students who attend a neighborhood charter school in a large urban area.
Many students at our school come from refugee and immigrant families, and some from families native to our city. All of our students are excited artists who have been busy in the art room with projects that challenge them to think critically and to use creative problem solving as they study art history and apply it to their own experiences. We have had generous donors supply our materials this year, but we are beginning to run low in the last few months.
My Project
I have requested a few basic materials for our classroom that we desperately need. Most of our magic markers have dried out, and we have worn out 2 electric and countless hand-held pencil sharpeners. The class pack of markers and new pencil sharpener will help us in our day to day activities in art class. I also requested some basic colors of acrylic paint that we will use to paint ceramics as well as paintings. The miscellaneous craft supplies are necessities that the younger students go through very quickly. By supplying us with these basic supplies, we can continue the productivity we have worked to establish in our classroom in the past two years.
The arts make a difference for our kids.
Some need art class as a break from a stressful and frustrating school day, some need to have the chance to spend time on what they see as one of their strongest talents, and some simply need to learn school subjects from a more hands-on approach. I am strongly convinced that art can reach each student in some beneficial way, and that it is an important part of our education system. No matter how basic the supply, every donation helps.
