My Project

My students come from exceptionally challenging backgrounds. They find great healing and relaxation when doing hand work as it provides a chance to focus, create, and enjoy the creative process. They also really love making something they can wear!

The age-old craft of leather tooling is perfect for them because they can work hard with their hands to produce something that they are proud of and can wear or give as a gift.

The focus, fine motor development, and perseverance required are all a great teacher. This pride and generosity are both skills that they will also grow from!

It is also so very important for them to see that so many of the things they see in a store were made by someone somewhere! That these things took time and skill to come into being.
