Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academywhere high school students have the opportunity to earn a two year Associates degree while enrolled. All students will earn their degree free of charge. Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy is a Title I school and 87% of the students qualify for free and reduced lunch.
My students are voracious readers and I struggle to keep up with new, exciting novels to have them read.
I created a reading club for my students and we meet once a month. All of my students cannot afford to purchase novels regularly, so I am looking for help to purchase books for the book club.
My students want to read Murder on the Orient Express so we can take a field trip to watch the movie. They also want to read The House on Mango Street for our book club meetings. They are insatiable readers who are always looking for something new to read. My students read a new novel every month with our book club and then we meet to explore themes and connections with other novels and their lives. We hold socratic seminars where students voice their opinions and questions about the novels, and my students write during their meetings. The book club is a great way to reach all my students and get them interested in reading!
