My Project
The Scholastic News magazines will be used during our Literacy Block time and Science/Social Studies Time. Students love these magazines and their nonfiction articles. The magazines provide teacher guides with lesson plans, reproducible worksheets, and on-line resources and a video for the students in my class to utilize.
With these magazines, students will continue to strengthen and reinforce skills such as determining word meaning, identifying main idea, accessing text features, sequencing, identifying key details, and comparing and contrasting all 3rd grade Reading standards.
After we have used them in the classroom, students place the magazines in their book bins to reread, or they can bring these magazines home and read them to their parents to have engaging discussions.
