My Project
Who doesn't have great memories of playing with play dough?! For kindergarten children, play dough is more than just fun. It is a chance to develop the fine motor skills needed throughout the school year!
During small group time my children will be able to use play dough, and all of the fun tools that go with it, to strengthen their hands and fingers, express their creativity, and socialize with their peers.
This is kindergarten "work" at its best. We will start out the beginning of the year using scissors to cut, rolling pins to shape, and various shapes and tools to create. These items will be used from day one. For my delayed students these items will carry them through to the end.
In addition, many of my students come from homes with limited resources, so play dough, and all the make believe props that go with it, is something they do not get to experience. In a world that has so much exposure to technology, it is a treat to watch children just work with their hands with something that was around way before we knew about computers.
