This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Transitional Kindergarten students are sociable and very creative. They enjoy listening to stories and orally communicating with their peers.

My students reside and attend school in a high poverty area.

The vast majority of my students qualify for and receive free breakfast and lunch. They are learning to share and take turns with their peers. It saddens me that several of my students began the new school year stating, "I can't do that." These students are slowly building their confidence and skill level so that they can develop and strengthen "A Can Do Attitude".

My Project

The Play-Doh and supportive tools will be used to further develop and strengthen my Transitional Kindergarten students' fine motor skills. Rolling, pounding and building with the dough will also foster their creativity in our independent Creation Station learning center. My students will also be encouraged to use the dough to form letters, words, numbers and shapes during guided instruction.

The fulfillment of this project will enable my Transitional Kindergarten students to strengthen their fine motor skills, enhance their creativity, and further develop their math and literacy abilities.
