This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Who doesn't love Play-doh? There isn't a child who isn't intrigued by how it is so malleable and allows the imagination to run wild.
I teach in an impoverished area of Los Angeles.
My students come from low income households, and all of them receive a free lunch. As their teacher, I want them to reach their ultimate potential. I want to make learning fun for them in every way. Having my students manipulate and create with play-doh will do just that.
My Project
My students can create all sorts of different items to represent items that have the letter of the week. They can practice building their names and high frequency words. They can fun while they search for the letters and sound out the words to create sentences and objects. My students need playdoh and stamp sets to learn about letters, numbers, and shapes.
Play-doh and letter stamps would be an excellent addition to my centers.
The students can use other media to learn and practice the letters and numbers. We currently are using paper and pencil, but can you imagine the hype that Play-doh will create? It will be revolutional.
