My Students
Our district is very small with only two schools in it and our school has approximately 900 students total, but we are growing quickly.
We live just a few blocks away from the Pacific coast.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and family structures. They are all full of life and have a huge love of learning! Our students work hard, have huge dreams, and deserve an education that not only consists of textbooks, but also technology, hands on learning, magazines/newspapers, and so much more.
My Project
My students are coming up on two huge units of study in our classroom. The first is our literature unit using the wonderful author, Dr. Seuss! Students will read many of his published works and then write a literature essay about what they learned in regards to common themes, character analysis, and authors viewpoint.
The second unit we will focus on is our poetry unit.
In this unit, our students will use the novel, Love That Dog, to help teach and write their own poetry.
By using literature to teach, students are more engaged and excited to delve deeper into the curriculum.
