it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My darling students have a wide range of visual impairments from blind with no light perception to a visual acuity of 20/70. All of these items will help me better meet their varying needs. Students who are blind or have low vision need items that engage their learning through all of their senses.
By providing items that are tactual, lighted or brailled, it increases the learning of students with visual impairments.
Some students with CVI can actually grow new pathways and increase their abilities to see. By shining a flashlight through a slinky while it is contracting up and down, it can engage the vision of a student who may require lighted items and movement to look at and see an item.
Students who are blind and learning braille need tactual flashcards, tactile dots, and sensory items that allow them to learn about their world through touch.
Each child is different, so we have to try many different strategies and use different items over a period of time to find what works for each child. These items will provide additional resources needed to meet their unique individual needs.
