This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My little 1st graders are eager to learn with LEGOs! I have a STEM, math, engineering, and science learning center and I want to fill it with LEGOs.
My 1st graders go to a K-8 school in the inner-city of a large urban area, where 99% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students are 60% Latino and 40% African-American. My students have limited opportunities beyond their neighborhood and I like to expose them to rich experiences.
My Project
My students will have free building time with the LEGO and DUPLO sets and books to let their imaginations soar. They will also have building instruction for bridges and robots. I have the instructions for simple things, like spelling out the alphabet with LEGO bricks to more complex cars and robots. They will learn engineering concepts while being engaged with these hands-on materials.
