This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My lovely students are between the ages of 5 and 6 in my Kindergarden class. We are located in the city of Huntington Park. We are a predominately a Latino school with 100% of our students receiving free school breakfast, and lunch. Many come to school in need of extra resources, and many do not have access to computers, or the internet. They still come to school regularly, and with great enthusiasm. They are a very special group of children that truly appreciate all that they are given.
My Project
I believe that the children will be easily engaged by the colorful graphics, and catchy songs in the Leapfrog DVD's. These videos feature a character for each letter. These letter characters sing the sound that the letters make. It's not just very entertaining, but it also works wonders with even the most struggling students. I will be able to skip, and pause on the letter of the day to emphasize the learning goal for the day. The copy machine will be used for printing, and copying practice material that will be an extension of the lessons taught through the DVD.
