Learning with Leap TV and Games

My students need an a TV, Leap TV system, games, and an extra controller. Leap TV has many interactive learning games with a game system that also incorporate movement.

My Students

In my classroom we work on academics, social skills, and coping skills. I work with a variety of students throughout the day. One of my biggest challenges is helping my students overcome poverty and obstacles outside of school. Building community is really important for my classroom and students.

I have about 20 students that I work with throughout the day.

Many of these students need help with their academics and many need help with social skills and coping skills. I have wonderful students who work hard to try to overcome obstacles they are faced with at school and outside of school. Often times, they need motivation and a caring adult that they trust to help them get there. Our school does a great job of building a community and work toward reaching all of the students in the school, not just the ones that each individual works directly with.

My Project

These resources will help to improve the use of technology in my classroom. My students will be able to learn through technology and become more interactive with their learning. It will provide movement with their learning as well. They will be able to work on a variety of skills ranging from math, reading, and science. I can see many of my younger students being really motivated by using Leap TV games to help them improve their letter/sound knowledge, sight words, and basic blending skills.

Working in a high poverty school, many of my students don't have access to technology at home.

This will provide a safe and fun way for my students to improve their academic skills while getting some movement with their learning. This will also serve as a great reinforcement for many of my students who need more behavioral/emotional help throughout the day.
