My Students

Our classroom showcases students who have culturally diverse backgrounds, abilities, and skills. Our school is in a tight-knit neighborhood that takes great pride in its diversity and sense of community.

Despite the impact of CoViD-19 to many of our immigrant and low-income families, my students bring excitement and energy to learn every day.

We are a Title I school that serves families who come from lower socioeconomic background. I teach 5-6 year-old students. Some of them are still learning English. As their teacher, my goal is to always provide them with a supportive learning environment and an equitable classroom by making sure they have what they need to be successful in kindergarten.

My Project

Dramatic play in early learning is a crucial part of a child's cognitive and social skills development. When children are engage in a dramatic play, they increase vocabulary, communication, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills.

I will use dramatic play centers to create a language-rich environment and to enhance meaningful learning experience.

I have a small kitchen set that was donated by a parent in my first year of teaching. Each year, I collect food items to expand our kitchen area. An additional hutch and mail box will encourage more imagination and expression from my students. My goal this year is to make my dramatic play as culturally relevant as possible by adding pictures and items that reflects my students culture.
