My Students
My students are a diverse group of kids from the East NY section of Brooklyn growing up in low-income families. My students are finally coming back into the school building after a year and a half of remote learning. Many of the students come from local shelters and need extra LOVE, CARE, and SUPPORT at school. My students are creative, thoughtful innovative, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Every child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, and my students are becoming enthusiastic learners.
In my self-contained classroom, I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
My goal for this project is to create an environment that is warm, safe, and welcoming while maintaining a fun, creative learning atmosphere for my students. This school year one of our goals is to increase attendance. One way is by providing snacks for students who are hungry. This will help my students to maintain their energy levels and provides them with important nutrients to support their growth, development and learning.
“Snack Time” is an opportunity to share and learn.
Your donation of healthy snacks will help students stay energized throughout their day as I can have classroom snacks available when they get hungry.
Motivation is the 'engine' that drives student engagement and learning. Before my students devour all these snacks, they will have to work with it doing fun math activities using some of the snacks. Using snacks in a learning environment makes students cooperate so much better when they know their cooperation equals snacks.
