My Students
My class is full of eager students who love to learn! They are active and energetic. When it's time to settle down and get to work, they are learning to be in control of themselves and are learning to focus on their assignments. Some of them are natural learners, others struggle to keep up, but all of them have the ability to learn and to make progress. These students mean the world to me, and I want the very best for them.
My Project
It is well known that when something is put to music, it is much more easily retained in one's memory. As students put math facts into musical, rhythmic beats as they repeat them, they will be greatly increasing their ability to recall them when they are needed. I'm excited to see my students take part in the creative process of developing rhythms that will help them retain what they are learning.
Reading fluency is another way the drums will be used .
Pacing, word inflection, and expression can all be demonstrated by using a beat. Students will both hear and feel what it is like to read too slow or to fast. The drums can be used to keep readers moving at a proper pace by keeping a steady beat. The rhythms can also be used to demonstrate where pauses should come in reading, as well as in tone.
In conclusion, I believe that the drums will be an interactive addition to my classroom that will keep kids engaged and keep them excited about learning.
