This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in the Bay Area in California (East of San Francisco) in an area heavily impacted with immigration and Socially Disadvantage Students. I have a wonderful group of Kindergartners this year in my DLI class (Dual Language Immersion) that have no previous experience in schooling.

My 25 students constitute a very lively and talkative group who are eager to learn.

They love to learn from each other through games and pair activities. They compensate their lack of academic experience with enthusiasm and curiosity.

My students are very visual as it would be expected from a 21st Century child and their attention always detour to hands-on colorful print.

My Project

I want my Kindergarteners to be independent at the same time they learn how to work in a team. This is the reason why small group instruction is so important in the development of my lessons. During small groups they have to work on their own but not individually because they are part of a team that moves together. During the rotations my students will acquire not only academic knowledge but also how to help each other, take turns and keep the materials tidy. The problem is that there are not so many materials available in Spanish and we teachers have to end up creating them ourselves and sharing for a minimal price.

By donating to this project you will make moving with a clipboard a more colorful experience.

My students will be able to write the room, match numbers, play math games and sort shapes in the language of instruction.
