Special Education can be challenging but extremely rewording. Especially if you teach in the South Bronx. My students come from a predominately low-income area and come from single-family households. Ninety-five percent of my students receive free or reduced-price lunches based on their socio-economic backgrounds.
My students are highly energized and visual learners.
They love working on computers and love using technology. At our school, we push our students to become job and college ready. Throughout the year we explore how to write resumes, balance checkbooks, plan a dinner party, use Microsoft office, use google drive and design a house/room/zoo. This way our students are ready for the real world at a young age.
My Project
A document camera would be such an asset to my students! Every week we have a student leader. He/She brings up their finished essay/short answer question and we go over it with the class. With a document camera, we would no longer need to make copies and pass them around to each student, instead, we could display them on the board for ALL to see!
Another benefit of the document camera would be that I no longer would need to write directions or examples on the board.
I can write them directly on the worksheet, which would lead to a lot less confusion!
I look forward to having a document camera during my read-aloud time too. By displaying the book, I can show the entire class specific text features, grammar examples, punctuation, and my students will be able to track the words as I read them! This will be extremely beneficial as I teach my students how to decode words and read with expression and fluency!
A document camera would provide my students with the high-quality educational opportunity that they deserve!
My students and I thank you so much for your consideration!!
