Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you imagine going to school without even the basic tools such as books, pens, and paper? Many of my students do not have these basic resources.
My students are 9th-graders in a high-poverty urban school.
They are bright students who want to learn. However, they sometimes lack the basic tools needed to learn. Our school really has no budget for supplies, and most of the students cannot afford to buy supplies themselves.
My Project
I try to incorporate a variety of learning strategies in my classroom. My students and I would love to have a class set of small dry-erase boards and markers to use for quick responses to questions and for learning games. We also need the less-glamorous basic classroom supplies such as tissue, paper towels, and paper. Finally, we need more books for independent reading.
Having new and exciting school supplies truly will make a difference for my students.
It will make them eager to learn and more engaged in the lessons. When students are engaged and having fun, they are so much more successful. My students want to graduate and go on to college. Please consider helping my students achieve their goals.
