Learning Tolerance from Florida's Famous, Fearless, and Faithful

My Students

"Going Above and Beyond" is the expectation and the goal for everyone in my classroom, including the teacher! We strive every day, on every project, on every assignment, in our behavior and work habits to epitomize this statement. Working cooperatively is a huge part of this goal.

My classroom is filled each day with twenty-two fourth graders exhibiting a full range of reading and math abilities.

The classroom is full of activity as we fill every minute working toward academic excellence, and trying to have fun at the same time. Our school is a small STEM magnet school drawing students from a large area so they come from many different cultures and socioeconomic levels.

My Project

These Florida themed books will help the study of Florida's history come to life for my fourth graders. As we study Florida's past and those that have made major contributions in our state, my students will learn how tolerance of the ideas and opinions of others was so important in the past and is so important in their own lives. High-interest chapter books and biographies will capture the attention of my students.

These books will bring together reading skills, environmental studies, history, and tolerance for others all at the same time.

My students learn more effectively when there is correlation within our curriculum.
