My Students
My middle school mathematics classroom is a place where students are encouraged to learn through discovery. Students are engaged in hands-on learning opportunities where they manipulate the concepts being taught to them so they can take ownership of their learning experience.
Students in my classroom face a lot of challenges.
Many of them are English Language Learners who are attempting to learn challenging math concepts while still trying to master a new language. Others have limited access to technology at home and depend on the school to provide them with tablets for internet access. Many of them qualify for free and reduced-price lunch.
It is my belief that students should be engaged in a learning experience that is both challenging and fun so they can be equipped with the skills they need for tomorrow while having fun today!
My Project
Since an early age, students have become accustomed to attending school physically and receiving face-to-face instruction with their teacher in a room full of their peers. Unfortunately, due to the infection rate of Covid-19 in Miami, a physical return to school will not be possible at this time.
I would love to be able to give my students the same quality education they are used to by providing my virtual lessons from home with the use of a mobile dry erase board.
As a middle school mathematics teacher, I do a lot of modeling on the board in class. I would like to continue this practice with my students despite teaching from behind the lens of a camera from home. With a mobile dry erase board, my students will continue to be able to see me modeling examples and answering their questions to better understand the concepts being taught virtually.
