Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is where my students begin their educational careers! As Transitional Kinder and Kindergarten students, this will be most of their first experiences in a classroom setting. They will not only learn to read, write, and count. They will start to develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills through facilitated instruction and play.

My class consists of 26 students who come to school eager to learn.

My job is to do whatever it takes to make that happen!

My Project

Writing is difficult at any grade level, but it is the most challenging in kindergarten. Since small motor skills are still being refined students are at different levels. Some are just learning to hold a pencil, some are still working on controlling it, and others are already writing figures or letters. The only way a student is going to get better at writing, no matter what level they are in, they need to practice it daily. Even when my students are not writing comprehensible letters, they are still expressing themselves through the pictures and formations they create.

My students need the double-sided boards, the draw and write journals, and some writing center activities to provide them with many exciting opportunities to practice their writing.

The double-sided write and wipe boards are a great, eco-friendly way to practice their letter formation and drawing. The Draw and Write journals are not only great to practice daily, but also a great record of their progress. The writing centers are where students at any level can practice as we rotate during learning centers. These are helpful because they will be able to copy letters, copy words, or begin writing independently with use of the references it offers.
