Help me give my students games and word activities to help build their basic reading skills and improve fluency, decoding, and overall reading comprehension skills in my classroom.
I am a special education teacher for students in grades 6th through 8th. I teach students ELA and reading. The pandemic and school shutdowns in 2020-2021 did not help our kids at all. Virtual education was not successful.
I now have many students in middle school who cannot read because they missed out on crucial lessons by being home.
Our kids cannot read and that is a necessity to being a successful working adult one day. I need to change this for my students. Please help us get the tools we need to run effective centers for reading in my classes.
The items requested today will be used in the learning centers in my room. I have recently started teaching Orton Gillingham reading strategies for decoding and fluency. These games and activities will help us continue to strengthen the learned skills through repetition and practice. We will be learning to read and have fun at the same time!
