This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first grade students are inquisitive and are eager to expand their knowledge about the variety of topics that we learn on a daily basis. Our school is located in a high-poverty area, and most students have parents that don't speak English. Also, access to technology at home is limited.
My Project
These materials will benefit my students greatly! Learning to read is a very important skill in first grade and if they don't learn how, they will be getting further behind, and it will become difficulty for them to read multisyllabic words in the upper grades.
Many of my students need a lot of explicit practice with learning their sounds and blending CVC words.
I want to make sure they get as much practice as they can in order to develop their blending skills. The resources I am requesting will help in providing practice opportunities as they become more fluent readers.
