Help me give my students more literacy centers and hands-on materials that will help them reinforce sight-words, letter recognition, and sounds through play; and connect their sight-words and letter sounds into reading with leveled readers.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Berry's classroom raised $248

My Students
My 24 Kindergarteners are creative and thoughtful bundles of excitement! They are so excited to come back to our classroom and get to finally use manipulatives to help them learn. They love reading and listening to read alouds in class. At home, they use a free online book resource called Epic! and they've already listened to a combined 5,500+ books!
My Kindergarteners come from many different walks of life.
Some of my students have special needs, some are second language learners, some have Individual Education Plans, and some are from low-income families who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
Students at home will be sent leveled B & C readers to help kids who are ready to make connections between their sight-words and letter sounds to a story. The books can also be used in the classroom when we return!
In the classroom, they will use play-based learning to reinforce their letter ID and sight-words.
Play is the learning of children, and it is much easier for them to learn when it doesn't feel like work!
Alphabet gators reinforce letter recognition and color matching. Stamps and stamp pads help kids with letter/sound recognition and they can build sight-words. Syllables is also a skill we are working on and this is a center they can play with a teacher, or independently.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
