My Students

Welcome! My name is Gracie and I am a first-year teacher. I teach 28 bright and capable kindergarteners! I have the pleasure of introducing these amazing kiddos to school for the first time. Kindergarten is the foundation for their school careers, and it is an opportunity for me to set them up for success. My hope is to provide materials that can assist my kindergarteners in the learning process, whether that be academically, or social-emotionally. They are truly a special bunch.

The past two years have been exceptionally hard for everyone.

These young learners have missed out on over a year of in-person learning, so I am trying to make this transition back into the classroom as smooth as possible. I hope to provide resources to my students that help them catch up on not only academics but also the social-emotional aspect of being at school.

I have two amazing classes I get to teach this year. They are curious and excited to be back in the classroom. My students this year love researching animals for different reports.

My Project

Before students can learn to read, they need to develop phonemic awareness (being able to identify different sounds and manipulate those sounds). Research shows that phonemic awareness skills will set students up for success when they start to read. These games will allow students to play with sounds either with a partner or independently. They will also allow me to spend more time in a small group setting, working with students who need more explicit instruction before they can move on to playing these games independently. These games and centers can make learning to read FUN!
