My students need different options of comfortable seating around the library. These chairs will really help add some additional spots around the library for students to lounge with a great book!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work with students in Pre-K through 5th grade. Students come from a variety of backgrounds although we have a majority of economically disadvantaged and minority students. Our school culture revolves around making sure each individual student's needs are met using personalized instruction and an "any means necessary" attitude. The quote comes to mind, "If they don't learn the way we teach, then we must teach the way they learn!" This is especially true in our school environment. We try to reach every student and create a culture of success by having students involved in their own learning outcomes.
The students are fun, they're a little bit crazy, they like to dance, they tell funny jokes; They're just overall great kids!
My Project
We need more comfortable seats in the media center and Big Joe Dorm Bean Bag Chair and the Intex Beanless Bag Club Chair will create a new reading nook that will allow students a comfortable spot to relax while they read!
Students love to chill out with a good book!
We currently have a few bean bags and floor cushions but when a whole class of 20 students is in the library, almost half are left without a soft seat to curl up and read in! Many students are struggling readers and already find it difficult to want to read. Having a nice, comfortable and inviting place to read will help students relax and enjoy reading.
