Learning to Read at the Perfect Table

My Students

Do you remember your excitement when you went to Kindergarten every day? My students come in every morning excited and ready for a full day of learning. This learning is rarely at their desks. Let's be honest, what 5 or 6 year old wants to sit at a desk all day to learn? I think we could all agree on none!

My students love to move around, explore, and be actively engaged in any work they are doing.

Every child in my class loves learning; however, the way they learn best varies by child. I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, flexible seating, and learning options to ensure my students' needs are met each and every day! I have seen so much growth from when my students entered my classroom on the first day of school until now. One thing that hasn't changed is their love for learning!

My Project

There are so many lessons that I teach throughout the day that are taught in a small group setting. Guided reading is one of my favorite parts of the day. My kindergarteners are so excited to come to the teacher table and see what they are going to be reading. This kidney table will help me when working with my students during guided reading.

Learning to read is the number one thing a kindergartener wants to learn by the end of the year!

I design lessons that allow me to interact with each student that is sitting at the teacher table. This new table will allow me to stay put and differentiate my instruction without running laps around a rectangular table.

The kidney table will also make a great seating choice during the other parts of the day. My students pick their tables and seats throughout the day. This kidney table will become another area that they can sit in to complete their work and activities.

Together we can help my kindergarteners meet their goal of learning how to read because of this wonderful small group table!
