Learning to Plant in a Rural Classroom

My Students

My students are in a public Montessori Charter school. These children are energetic and loving children. Montessori philosophy teaches children through the use of hands-on materials and unique science lessons. Science lessons in the classroom are a very important part of learning how our amazing world works.

My dream is to bring gardening indoors by providing them with a hydroponic gardening system.

Introducing a true Botany experience in the elementary classroom makes learning fun and exciting. It is beautiful to see a child's face light up with joy when he/she makes an amazing discovery.

My Project

These materials will be displayed nicely in our classroom. In a Montessori classroom, the children study Botany. They are taught how to respect all living things. We also take responsibility of chores in the class. One of the chores that we have is the Botanist. The job of the Botanist is to take care of our plants.

This project will be a wonderful way to add a real life experience to our Botany lessons.

I know that the children will love watching how plants grow and eat herbs form the all natural garden. They will also be able to experience new taste and flavors of the plants that we will grow. This will be a wonderful addition to our classroom.
